What drives you each day?

Every day is an adrenaline rush because I get to collaborate with a team of people that understand the work we do is much bigger than ourselves. In the past few years we have been fortunate to work on some of the largest, most complex projects with world renowned architects.

What career achievement brings you the most pride?

Watching SLS grow into a firm that puts the client first and gets results. It’s amazing to see how our talented life safety professionals, who come from of all different backgrounds, have created a company culture that is fun and rewarding.

What brought you this far?

My journey started when I was an intern at the National Fire Protection Association, and I couldn’t get enough. That was fifteen years ago and since then, I’ve worked in the architecture, engineering and construction industry giving it my all. In 2009, I established SLS where I serve as principal and work directly with clients on day to day project needs.

How do you stay so young?

I'm going grey very fast and attributing any withstanding youth to an Earl Grey tea addiction. Having a three-year-old daughter also keeps me in shape.

What drives you each day?

Working with architects to solve complex life safety challenges, while having a lot of fun in the process.

What career achievement brings you the most pride?

Being a key leadership member of SLS and creating a brand with national reach has given me bragging rights.

What brought you this far?

I have worked in the architecture, engineering and construction industry for fifteen years and my wife and three kids have been my greatest fans.

How do you stay so young?

If it weren’t for inline skating and skiing, I would’ve gone bald by now.

What drives you each day?

Serving others and encouraging everyone around me to achieve are my constant drivers.

What career achievement brings you the most pride?

While I have been involved in countless projects I’m very proud of, the achievement that brings me the most pride has been fostering growth in those around me and striving to unlock my full potential. I couldn’t have done it without the support of my loving wife and daughter.

What brought you this far?

At the core of my trajectory, is the firm belief that I’m making a difference. Twenty-five years ago, I began my career as a union carpenter. Since then I have worked in various roles including general superintendent and National Operations Manager. Today, as principal and Chief Operations Officer of SLS I enjoy serving clients’ needs, mentoring team members and cultivating leadership within SLS.

How do you stay so young?

My ambitious wake up time and trusty alarm clock. Because even though I'm the old man in the group, I still wake up earlier.

What drives you each day?

The thirty-two years of experience that I’ve got behind me. It’s a reminder that success is built with dedication.

What career achievement brings you the most pride?

As a proud Napolitano, being invited to speak on Performance Based Design in Italy was a shining moment.

What brought you this far?

In addition to my experience in architectural design, I’ve been a life safety consultant for over twenty years. When you fuse expertise from two specialized industries with extensive knowledge of local, state and international building code requirements, some standout moments take place. A crowning example is serving as the code consultant for the Museum of Islamic Arts in Doha.

How do you stay so young?

Well for starters, I make my own red wine every September. When you also add that I’m a futbol (soccer) aficionado and a pizza connoisseur, it’s no wonder I found the secret to eternal youth.

What drives you each day?

My car! All jokes aside, I’m motivated by learning and cultivating a deeper understanding of building safety. It’s my goal to be accurate and dependable in whatever information I can offer in support of a project.

What career achievement brings you the most pride?

I define success as establishing trust with local building officials and fire marshals as well as teaching and sharing both technical information and practical lessons.

What brought you this far?

In addition to my 12+ years as a licensed architect, I joined SLS as a life safety consultant because I wanted to deepen my understanding of building safety to assist the architectural community.

How do you stay so young?

As it turns out, learning to resolve new challenges and nuances within building design is not only extremely rewarding, it also keeps the mind in an active state of exercise and growth. So does camping in Georgia.

What drives you each day?

I love being able to bring solutions to projects and knowing that clients enjoy having me as part of their team.

What career achievement brings you the most pride?

Working with an exemplary and diverse team elevates all of us and is worth more to me than any award or prize.

What brought you this far?

I loved both Architecture and Civil Engineering so much that I decided to pursue both. That’s how I ended up with two bachelor degrees from Drexel University. Since graduating, I’ve been serving the code consulting industry for almost a decade and I still love a good challenge.

How do you stay so young?

Traveling and extreme sports are my go-to. And for the record, I'm one of the young ones in the group.
